Open Evening plans well under way

When we set the date for our Open Evening, it did seem quite a long way away, but here we are, with just three weeks to go, and I'm delighted to confirm a wonderful list of people joining us for the evening.

So once you’ve been served with your complimentary mulled cider (or apple juice) you’ll have much to see as you explore all that Harefield Barn has to offer.  And don’t worry; if your glass runs dry, the bar will be open too, kindly manned on the night by who are our regular bar tenders at Harefield Barn.  LAP Staff will also be here to showcase the delicious range of food they can create for your wedding or event, so it will be a busy night for them!

First and foremost, we would like to thank the sparkling (get the pun!) crew from who have been exceedingly generous in putting on a firework display for all our guests at 8pm. This will be our very first display at Harefield Barn, and we feel sure that the venue will be absolutely perfect for it, so we just can’t wait!

We have got some fabulous suppliers coming along to the Open Evening – the perfect opportunity to see what they have to offer and pick their brains for inspiration towards making your wedding distinct and unique.  With their superb range of skills and experience, you’re sure to find some great ideas from this list of experts…..

Caterers: LAP Food and Bars, Mulberry Catering Company, Fig and Smoke, The Rusty Pig, Buen Apetito

It would take far too long to describe all the wonderful range of delights available from this superb selection of local caterers, but suffice to say that there will be tasters a-plenty, the air will be filled with some amazing smells, so prepare to be tempted!

Photographers/Videographers: Zac Gibson, Martyn Norsworthy, Catherine Spiller, Evolve Photography, Tristan Adams, Mimosa Photography, Passion 4 Photos

Every photographer has their own unique style so with all this talent on display you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Florists: Divine Flowers, Emma Hewlett Flowers, Amanda Winsor Flower Studio

Being a frustrated florist at heart, I can’t wait to see what these lovely ladies create.

Toastmaster: The Distinguished Toastmaster

Why engage a toastmaster? Well Stephen Crosswell will be on hand to explain how he can help your day run like clockwork and allow you to relax.

Props/Tableware: Keeping it Vintage

With a huge range of items, Keeping it Vintage have everything you need to bring your ideas to life.   They are brilliant at keeping their items current with all the latest trends, as well as stocking plenty of the ‘old favourites’ so you don’t have to source them yourselves.

Activites: Moor Fun

Moor Fun Events have a fabulous range of inflatables and other items to make your day go with a swing.  For the Open Evening they are bringing their quirky new bike which can be used for serving anything from Ice Creams and Prosecco to hot chocolate, and their retro photo booth.

Event Management:  Elisabeth Shell Events

Phoebe is a very experienced Event Manager and stylist, so she has all the ‘know-how’ to help you every step of the way.

Cakes & Bakes: Mandy’s Classic Cakes, Bakeshed Devon

Mandy is such a talented cake maker/decorator that she can turn her hand to whatever style you have in mind, and the ladies from Bakeshed Devon can create  everything from vintage afternoon tea parties, to bespoke celebration cakes, and they even make delicious homemade preserves using locally grown produce, for your favours perhaps?  All this ‘cake talk’ is terrible for the diet!

Gowns: The Ivory Secret

With a selection of exquisite designer gowns, the ladies from The Ivory Secret can guide you to finding the perfect gown for you, whether it be from an existing label, or entirely bespoke and designed especially for you.

Accessories/Jewellery: Molten Wedding Ring Company, The Lucky Sixpence

We are very lucky to have these two local makers who can design and make something unique for you, be it jewellery or a stunning hairpiece for the big day.

Hair/Make Up: Ash Salon, E Hair Design, Justine Olver, Shell Marie, Natalie Nicholls

Again, we have tried to keep things local with a selection of amazing ladies to help you look your very best, creating hair and make up to last for a long and busy day and for those important photos which last a lifetime!

Magician: Dan Brazier

With his amazing close-up magic, Dan will entertain and astound your guests – and that’s before they start on the champagne!

Celebrant: Rachel Henderson

Celebrant Rachel works with couples to create personal and heartfelt ceremonies that are memorable and unique with integrity and authenticity, so why not have a chat with her about how she can create something incredibly special for you.

Music: Shindig Wedding

Sam Holloway is a local musician who can provide all things musical for your day, including individual acoustic sets, as part of a fabulous wedding band or as your DJ for the evening. We’re hoping he will be showing off his talents on the evening, so we’ll be ‘all ears’

Lighting: Party Lights

Harefield Barn lends itself to lighting, with festoons of fairy lights twinkling off the huge glass windows, so party lights have kindly offered to erect some stunning lights to enjoy on the evening.

Gifts/placecards/Etc: The Lovely Little Log Company

Beautiful, natural, local and sustainable finishing touches for your day.

So there you have it – the list so far!  There may well be one or two additions, but I certainly think there’s enough there to keep you busy.  We’re so looking forward to meeting you all, and of course, we will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about holding your wedding or event at Harefield Barn, so see you there!
