As with so many weddings this year, when they reserved their August 2020 date back in March 2019, we had no idea what was to come, and it wasn’t until August this year that they finally got the chance to celebrate in style. From their first visit, Jack and Meg loved Harefield Barn and have been so supportive as we all tried to juggle dates and keep the excitement alive. Although I recognised the name Purchall, it wasn’t until Jack’s Dad came to help out with preparations the day before the wedding that I made the connection. In a former life, I spent some time as Administrator at Topsham School where Jack was a pupil – now that does make me feel old! It was lovely to see some old faces from those Topsham days, and it certainly made me think how far we have come!
The weather was perfect, and the stage was set with some gorgeous flowers from Gill Clavey, cake from Sue Horder, games from So Devoted and a lovely flower wall from All Floral.
After their romantic ceremony in the Clock House on the terrace and a ‘bridesmaid’ never to be forgotten!), Jack, Meg and their guests enjoyed a glass of bubbly and some delicious canapés from M Welsh Catering. Speeches followed and then a fabulous sirloin of been or roasted aubergine with goats cheese for main, and a trio of deserts for pudding.
Everyone then relaxed and played games in the beautiful sunshine before dancing the night away to The Guiding Lights from Bristol with Booth Fantasia on hand to snap the guests as they partied. Space Hoppers take some negotiating in a wedding dress – but that wasn’t going to stop Meg!
Thank you Megan and Jack for choosing Harefield Barn for your special day and letting us be part of the fun!
