We can guide you through the procedure you will need to follow in order to get married or hold your Civil Partnership at Harefield Barn. Devon Registration Service employs a wonderful team of highly skilled Registrars, and two will be present for your wedding. One will conduct your ceremony, and the other will ensure all the legalities are observed and supervise the signing of the schedule.
After you have checked with us that your preferred date is available, your first call should be to Devon Registration Service Ceremonies Team on 0345 155 1002. They will be able to check the date is free and take your booking, explain the process of giving notice and any costs involved. All the information is also available on their website at new.devon.gov.uk/registrationservice.
Once your date is booked with both Harefield Barn and the Registration Service – the fun begins!
There are seven locations licenced and available for your ceremony; The Main Hall, The Gallery, The Clock House, The Bar, The Leveret Suite, and the Porch. This gives you an enormous amount of flexibility to your arrangements. Details for these are given in The Venue page.
If you would prefer to have a special ceremony away from one of the licenced locations, this is currently possible under amended government regulations brought in during the pandemic. Devon Registration staff are also happy to carry out the very brief legal part of the marriage with you and your witnesses in one of the licenced locations within the building, and then conduct a full Commitment Ceremony attended by all your guests elsewhere.
You could also choose to attend a Register Office beforehand for the legal exchange of vows, and then employ a member of Devon Registration Service or an independent celebrant to perform a Commitment Ceremony for you at Harefield. As a former Registrar, this is something I can personally do for you if you wish.
Again, flexibility is our motto – we want you to be able to enjoy your day, your way, and will help you achieve that however we can!
